The British economy grew (Guardian) at its fastest rate in nearly a decade in the second quarter due to a strong construction sector and household spending. GDP rose 1.2 percent between April and June, compared with 0.3 percent in the first quarter.

Human rights group Amnesty International warned the deportations risked stigmatizing the minority group, after a UN panel earlier this month warned of mounting racism and xenophobia in France.
